About the Initiative
The Kalamazoo River Cleanup Initiative is a community-driven effort aimed at removing debris and trash from the water, banks and trails along the Kalamazoo River focused on parks and waterways in Kalamazoo, Comstock, and Parchment.
This project is crucial for restoring the natural habitat, improving water quality for recreational use, and enhancing the beauty of our local environment. By participating, volunteers contribute to a sustainable future and demonstrate the power of collective action in preserving our natural resources for generations to come.
There are many ways to participate; for families, avid river paddlers and fishermen, and people who love to wade in creeks.
FREE EVENT
Note: When you register, you will select a preferred worksite location. On the day of the event, we encourage you to arrive at your designated worksite at 10:00 am for volunteer orientation—even if you can only participate for an hour. If you arrive after 10:00 am, please report to Mayors Riverfront Park to check in and for the brief orientation prior to joining a group at a worksite (shown here.)
- Groups: If you are registering a large group or have questions, please contact us with your request.
- Watercraft: For those participating using watercraft, kayaks, canoes etc., please arrive at 8:30 am for orientation, and plan to launch at 9:00 am.
